An E6 code means there's a problem with the ambient temperature sensor, which measures the temperature of the room around your machine. Your machine uses that reading to decide how hard it needs to work, so cooling may not be as accurate as usual.
This is a different sensor from the ones behind E4 and E5, but the steps to try are the same.
First, try a simple reset
- Unplug the machine at the wall.
- Leave it for a minute.
- Plug it back in.
Give it a few minutes and see whether the code comes back. Often that's all it takes.
If E6 returns, try a full reset
- Open the door and take out the keg.
- Disconnect the keg from the tap unit.
- Unplug the machine, wait a minute, then plug it back in.
- Reconnect the keg to the tap unit, fitting a new beer line, and place it back inside.
- Close the door and check the latch has locked.
You'll know within a few minutes whether the code has cleared. If it has, leave the keg in the powered-on machine for 12 to 16 hours to cool fully before you pour.
Still showing E6?
If the code comes back after a full reset, the sensor most likely needs replacing, which isn't something that can be fixed at home. Get in touch and we'll sort it out. It helps to know:
- how old your machine is
- whether the code cleared at any point during the resets
- whether the beer is actually cooling, regardless of what the display says
