Best before dates (BBDs) on beer are different from use-by dates on fresh food.
What the best before date means
- Beer is a preserved product and remains safe to drink after its BBD.
- The date shows when the beer is expected to taste its best.
- On PerfectDraft kegs, the BBD is shown as the last day of the month stated.
Does flavour change after the BBD?
- For the fullest flavour, it’s best to enjoy beer before the BBD.
- After this date, the taste may gradually change as hops and malt mellow. In many cases, this change is subtle.
At PerfectDraft, we’re confident in the quality of our kegs, even close to and beyond their BBD. We only classify a keg as short-dated when it has six weeks or less remaining before its BBD.
