If your machine isn't pouring properly, here's what to check, starting with the quickest.
1. Check how much beer is left
As a keg empties, the flow slows down and eventually stops. Have a look at the level indicator on the front. If it's showing red, there's very little left and it's time for a new keg.
2. Open the tap handle fully
Beer only flows properly with the handle opened all the way, in one movement. A half-open handle gives you very little beer and a lot of foam.
3. Check the door is properly closed
Make sure the latch has locked. If the door sits ajar, cooling and pressure stop, and your machine won't pour as it should.
4. Check the tap unit
Make sure the tap unit is fully and securely attached to the keg. A poor fit affects pressure and stops the flow. You should hear two clicks when it's properly fitted.
5. Check the beer line
Have a look at the tube running from the keg to the tap. A tear, a blockage, a build-up or a poor fit will all restrict the flow. The beer line should stick out very slightly from the spout.
If it looks damaged or misshapen, fit the new beer line that came with your keg.
6. If you haven't used the machine for a while
Beer can dry in the spout and block the flow. Gently squeeze the flexible part of the beer line where it comes out of the spout to loosen anything that's dried, then open the tap briefly to flush it through before you pour.
7. Check whether the keg is pressurising
If the machine keeps making its pressure-maintenance noise, or you suspect a poor keg connection, take the tap unit off and refit it, checking the keg and beer line connections as you go.
While the tap unit is off, have a look at the keg closure. There's a small air channel slightly off-centre, and if it's blocked the keg can't pressurise. Clear it gently with a toothpick, then reconnect.
If you can, try another keg to rule out a keg fault.
8. Check the display

- If you see a green or red dash and the backlight is flashing, remove the tap unit, clean it, and refit it. If that doesn't help, try another keg with a new beer line.
