A small amount of frost inside the machine can be completely normal. As the cooling system works to maintain the correct temperature, light condensation may appear.
If you notice more significant ice build-up, it's usually linked to airflow or ventilation, and it can normally be sorted out at home.
Getting rid of the ice
- Unplug the machine at the wall.
- Take out the keg and leave the door open.
- Let the ice melt on its own. Don't scrape or chip at it, and don't use a defrosting spray.
- Keep an eye on the drip tray and empty it as it fills.
- Wipe the inside dry with a cloth, plug the machine back in, and give it time to cool down again.
Stopping it coming back
Check the ventilation space
- Make sure there is at least 10 cm of space around the back and sides of the machine.
- Good airflow helps the cooling system operate efficiently. If the machine is placed in a tight space or close to heat-producing appliances, it may struggle to regulate temperature properly.
Check the door closes properly
- Ice forms where warm air gets in, and the door seal is what keeps it out.
- Wipe the seal clean and dry, and check now and then that it isn't damaged or sticky.
- Make sure the door closes fully every time, and try not to leave it open longer than you need to.
Clean the fan area
- Dust can build up over time and reduce airflow.
- This simple maintenance step often restores normal operation.
To clean the fan:
- Switch off and unplug the machine.
- Remove the drip tray and grille.
- Gently clean the fan area with a soft brush or cloth.
- Replace the grille and drip tray before switching the machine back on.
⚠️ Do not remove the back cover of the machine. This would void your warranty.
