Some machine noise is normal. PerfectDraft machines contain cooling and pressure systems, so different sounds can happen during cooling, pressure maintenance, and pouring.
Common normal sounds:
Soft, continuous humming: usually the cooling system (fan or compressor) maintaining the correct temperature
Noise when pouring: the machine is maintaining the keg's pressure while you pour
- Occasional noise when not pouring: the machine is briefly maintaining the keg's pressure
Sounds that need a closer check:
Hissing: this can mean the tap unit is not fully attached; press it down firmly until you hear two clicks
Loud humming or vibration: check that the machine is standing flat and stable
Frequent pumping or grinding sounds when idle: check that the keg and tube are properly fitted
- High-pitched whine: if persistent or concerning, please contact us.
If the machine is noisy and also not cooling:
-
Check the ventilation area
Make sure there is enough space around the back of the machine
We recommend at least 10 cm of clearance
Ensure the machine is not placed in direct sunlight or near a heat source (oven or radiator)
Clean the rear vents and fan area, making sure there is no dust build up
WARNING: Do not remove the back cover of the machine, as this would void your machine's warranty
- Check for error codes, especially cooling-related ones
If the issue remains, or you're not sure if a noise your machine is making is normal, please contact us.
